Apple Pan Crumble
Estimated Cost: $9.75
2 jars Musselman's Dutch Baked Apples, or other jarred baked apples of your choice
1 stick butter, cold and cut into small chunks*
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup minute rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon salt*
Empty apples and their liquid into a medium size bowl. Microwave for about 3 minutes or until completely hot. Meanwhile heat two large nonstick sauté pans over medium heat. In a medium bowl, combine last 5 ingredients and add the butter to the mixture. Cut dry ingredients into butter with two forks until it resembles coarse meal. Divide mixture among the two pans and cook very slowly for 5 minutes. Stir often to ensure even browning and crisping. Remove from pans onto a large plate to cool and harden for a few minutes. To serve dessert spoon the apple mixture into 4 bowls. Sprinkle the oat crumble on top liberally. Serve.
